SUMMARY:Freedom Song at the White Theatre
DESCRIPTION:Presented by Beit T’Shuvah\, the Los Angeles-based interdenom
inational Jewish rehabilitation and spiritual community\, “Freedom Song
” is a moving original musical about the struggle of addiction and the r
edemptive power of recovery. The Temple\, Congregation B’nai Jehudah is
proud to be a supporting sponsor of this special engagement at The J.\n\nT
he performance unfolds around a Passover seder\, the ancient celebration o
f freedom from slavery\, where a Jewish family gathers and comes face to f
ace with the shadows that addiction casts over every seat at the table. In
terwoven with scenes from a 12-step meeting\, “Freedom Song” invites t
he audience to witness the raw\, honest and ultimately hopeful journey fro
m bondage to freedom. The cast is not made up of professional actors. Ever
y performer is a real person in recovery\, sharing their own story with co
 urage and authenticity.\n\nUsing song\, dance\, tears and laughter\, “Fr
eedom Song” poses one unforgettable question: What is each person a slav
e to? Following the performance\, audience members are invited into an ope
n discussion with the cast.\n\nLocation: The White Theatre at The J\, 5801
West 115th Street\, Overland Park\n\nClick here to purchase tickets. Subs
criptions to The White Theatre’s full season are also available here.\n\
