Love songs have been an essential theme of popular music and musical theater. The biblical book Song of Songs, a collection of poetic declarations of love, is assigned to Passover because of one interpretation which sees the love expressed in the text as a reflection of the relationship between God and the Jewish people, with one passage identifying springtime as a positive time of renewal of relationships. Rabbi Karol will share songs in Hebrew and English based on passages from Song of Songs and popular love songs by Jewish songwriters that will prepare us for the coming holiday of liberation.
