Harris will be in town to address the entire Jewish community. Vice Chair of the Institute for the Study of Global Antisemitism and Policy (ISGAP), former CEO of the American Jewish Committee (AJC) from 1990 to 2022. Described by The New York Times as “the dean of American Jewish organizations” and by French President Nicolas Sarkozy as “the most effective, influential, and respected American Jewish organization.”

Harris was called “the foreign minister of the Jewish people” by the late Israeli President Shimon Peres and is the most decorated Jewish organizational leader by foreign governments in U.S. history. He has received four honorary doctorates, including one from Brandeis University in 2022.

Over five decades, Harris has been pivotal in global issues such as the rescue of Ethiopian and Soviet Jewry and expanding Israel’s diplomatic footprint. He has advanced interfaith relations, combated antisemitism, strengthened Jewish identity, and defended democratic values.

He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania and the London School of Economics, and was a visiting scholar at Johns Hopkins and Oxford Universities. He is a Trustee at Brandeis University.

Harris, son of Holocaust survivors, is a Strategic Analyst and host for the Jewish Broadcasting Service. He is married to Giulietta Boukhobza, who, as a Jew, was forced to flee her native Libya in 1967.
